Someone has let the cat out of the bag! Since the new bridge opened making the journey from the mainland to the holiday island of Sheppey, Harts Holiday park has become so popular that we’ve had to include another park on the island for 2009 to cope with the demand.

The park manager, Donna is rightly proud of her park and the way guests are made to feel so welcome, that’s why so many return year after year.

Leysdown has all the amenities of a traditional seaside resort, but combines this with the tranquility and 'back to nature' feel from miles of unspoilt beaches and wide open green spaces.

You may not know that Leysdown attracts over 100,000 visitors a year and has one of the lowest rainfalls in the UK.

Follow the M2 (signposted M2 Dover, Channel Tunnel, Canterbury, Chatham). Leave the M2 at junction 5, then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A249. At the Junction with A2 on roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A249 (signposted Sheerness). Pass over the Kingsferry Bridge and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Lower Road - B2231 (signposted Leysdown). At Thistle Hill Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Lower Road - B2231. At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Rowetts Way - B2231 on entering Eastchurch, continue forward onto Leysdown Road. Entering Leysdown On Sea, turn right opposite the Leysdown Parade, you have reached Harts Holiday Park.

Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway

One of the best narrow gauge railways in the UK, a fine collection of twelve steam locomotives, on open days at least two operate a regular passenger service on the 1km line and visitors can take unlimited rides.

Doddington Place Gardens

Doddington Place is surrounded by wooded countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The lovely landscaped gardens are set in the grounds of an imposing Victorian mansion and cover ten acres.

Minster Abbey Gatehouse Museum

Depicts Sheppey’s fascinating history with a wide range of exhibits including fossils, costumes, paintings and photographs, all set within the unique gatehouse building. Superb views can be experienced from the battlements that are 200 feet above sea level.
